Leadership for Life
Success Stories
It is said that success breeds success and nowhere is this more evident than in the Marine Corps. For it is in the Marine Corps that officers learn the skills that will help them attain a high level of achievement - both in the Marine Corps, and in life.
These skills include self-reliance, determination, fortitude, and, of course, leadership. Former astronaut and U.S. Senator John Glenn is a former Marine. So is Frederick W. Smith, CEO of FedEx. Steven S. Reinemund, former CEO at PepsiCo, was a Marine Corps Officer, as was Sandy Alderson who is the San Diego Padres' CEO.
Success is not limited to those who retire after 20 years of service in the Marine Corps. One could argue that each and every Marine Corps Officer is a success, simply because they have proven they have what it takes to become an officer in the first place.
The fact is, for both current and former Marines, achievement stories abound. For more information, see the best example of what the Marine Corps has to offer - call or visit your local Officer Selection Officer (OSO) or Marine Officer Instructor (MOI).
Fundamentals of Success
- The leadership principles in the Marine Corps such as “Set the example” and “Make sound and timely decisions” work equally well when applied in the business world.
